This is a photo of my girls room. The bunk beds come apart and make 2 twin size beds. I used construction fir for these to save cost. I had to let the lumber dry out for a while till it was usable.

Once it was dry I ran it through the planner and jointer to square it up. I put a few coats of primer and enamel on it. I made the bed about 5 years ago and it has held up really well. As a side note I made the chest next to the head of the bed as a gift for my wife for valentines day the year before we got married.

I made this dresser for my girls to consolidate stuff trying to save space. Its also made of pine but its all furniture grade pine. I wanted a smooth shiny finish but was not happy with the finish of bed so I used white lacquer from Sherwin Williams. It was very easy to use and I got the hand rubbed finish I wanted. This does hold a lot of stuff but doesn't really save on the space.

This little jewel Is a Murphy Bed. While working for Peterson Builders I built this for a remodel we did. It was a fun project to build. I had to order the kit on line from Create-A-Bed.

The case is made from stain grade 3/4" plywood and the shelves are #2 pine with 1x6 T&G backs. I was able to build the whole thing in our shop and install it in the home like cabinetry.

This is a fun piece. I made this out of 2x4 framing lumber and sheets of 1/4" ac ply. I built this very rough. All the rails and stiles are mortised and tenoned together but I didn't use glue because I new the wood was going to shrink as it dried out. I did pin the joints together with brads to hold it in place. The joints did separate but created a very rustic look. I ran all the lumber through the planer to clean it up but did not sand any of it down. I liked the look of the machine marks. The crown on the top I made out of a piece of 2x6. I ran it through the table saw at an angle to get the oval shaped cove at the top. the rest I shaped with a hand plane. The two upper doors open then slide back into some pockets to expose a TV. The two doors on the bottom cover shelving that holds the components for the entertainment system. My original plans have a book shelf on either side with speakers mounted in the bottom portion. but because of the massive size I tend to build things. I did not have room in the room for the 2 cabinets. Originally I had stained and lacquered it, but later decided to paint it black and then beat it up (upon my decorators request). I have built a similar one for a cabin up in Island Park that is used for clothing. I went big with that one also and ended up cutting the thing off half way to get it through the doors in to the room. then putting it back together.

Oh I also did the little shelf on the wall. It's mdf with working drawers.

This is a set of book cases that it built this spring to go into one of the houses we were building in Eden, Utah. I used the same pine from the floor for the backs and the face frames around the front.

For the shelving I used some dried 2x6 framing fir. I saw this type of shelf support in a piece a few years ago and tried my hand at it. It gives the pieces an antique look. The finish I used was a tinted lacquer. I prefer the lacquer now because of the quick dry time. It was rather hard to work with because i'm use to touching up spots that didn't spray out heavy enough. with the tinted finish every time I went back over it it got darker. So i had to be careful to get the same amount of coverage evenly over the pieces.

This was a dresser I made for my brother-in-law about 11 years ago. I made this using common #2 pine with a Polycrylic semi-gloss finish. it's about 6' tall and 22" deep.
